NEW SKETCH CARDS - DARK X-MEN

Tue Oct 20, 2009, 1:57 AM

Hey everyone,

Hope you are all okay out there.
It's been a while so I thought that I would update my journal. Thanks to everyone who has been stopping by and leaving comments I do appreciate them all and I'm sorry about the delay in getting back to you, I'm pretty much caught up for now. Things are vey busy this end but I'm having a great time and hopefully producing some nice work.

I've just finished some new aceo sketch cards featuring the Dark X-Men so I thought I'd show them off here a bit -

I enjoy playing with lighting and shadows in my work and with these characters and the whole Dark X-Men theme it seemed like a good chance to cut loose and create some atmospheric pieces.

Anyway, my leash is chafing my neck - better get back to the drawing board. ;)

Speak soon,
Jack.

Great looking sketchcards, can I ask how did you get into doing them?

Hey Laurie, love your work! Thanks for dropping by - I got into them by accident really, was just minding my own business doing larger pieces when I started to get commission enquiries to do some sketch cards. I was vaguely familiar with the idea, but that was it. I had a look into them, took on some of the commissions and fell in love with the whole thing. I love the challenge of working so small and the sketch card community is one of the best I've had the pleasure of working in.

Sorry for babbling!

Jack.

Thanks! That info is much appreciated. I've done a couple sketchcards, and a couple pieces for Topps for Indiana Jones. I guess it's one of those things I'm curious about. I like working small too!

Yep on all the pieces up here on DA they were used dry.

Glad they were easy to find. Personally I've never used the Studio ones, so I couldn't comment on how good they are, but the watercolour ones work great for me.
